H&M Nail Polish Review - Come Along with Me

I was in H&M buying some basic strappy tops and waiting to pay at the till I saw some nail polish on sale for only 10kr. (around £1). I simply couldn't pass them without buying one (read two).

I got the colours Come Along with Me and Car Paint Purple. The first is a really nice teal and the other looked dark blue in the shop, but turned out to be more purple than blue.

I tried on the teal one. It's a little more runny than I'm used to. I usually buy Essie nail polish, so I was exited to see if a nail polish one tenth of the price would hold up just as well.

Apart from being a little more runny it was ok to apply and took two coats to get an even coat. It lasted a day and a half and then started chipping. But I'm not the most careful person, so I tend to ruing my nail polish fast, so it's an acceptable amount of time for me.

All in all, I was satisfied with how this polish performed. What more can you expect for that price really.

In celebration of spring - Bright nails

The sun is starting to shine here in Denmark and spring is here! I felt like bright coloured nails when I woke up this morning to celebrate that summer is just around the corner (that might be a bit on the optimistic side considering where I live).

Looking through my nail polish stash I was drawn to Camera by Essie. As my friends know, I have a slight addiction to nail polish - especially Essie, so there was definitely a lot of different colours to choose from. But I'm going out for coffee with a friend tomorrow and I'll be wearing a dark grey cardigan, so the bright neon pinky orange will give a nice contrast.

I love the colour of Camera. It's a lot more pink in the bottle than it is once it's on. You need about three coats to get the colour even and opaque. And the first coat is much more pink than the end result. After three it is much more of a slightly pink toned orange.



The only thing I don't like so much about this polish is that it takes three coats. I'm notorious for getting impatient when doing my nails, and this takes a little while longer to do. But the colour is well worth the weight.

I predict that I will wear this a lot this spring and summer when I'm wearing clothes that is less sparkly than my personality allows.

Next step for me on the journey to bright colours is to start wearing lipstick. I always get slightly paranoid about lipstick on my teeth when wearing it, so I rarely do. That has to change this season!

Clinique Chubby Stick Whole Lotta Candy Review

I got this lovely Clinique Chubby Stick gift set from a friend for my birthday. I been wanting to try them for a really long time, so I was very happy to receive them.

There are three colours in the gift set: Voluptuous Violet, Pudgy Peony and Two Ton Tomato.

I feared this shade would be too dark for me, but I was pleasantly surprised! It's very lightly pigmented so it just gives a hint of berry and gives my lips a really nice colour. I would wear this for a lovely alternative to lip balm. The colour is very subtle and as with all the chubby sticks in this box it moisturises my lips amazingly well.

Pudgy Peony
This was the first colour I gravitated towards when I opened the box. It's a really lovely pink shade that is not too bright for day and still really good for a party look. I wore this going clubbing with a heavily lined eye and lots of lashes and it looked great. It is the most pigmented one of the three colours.

Two Ton Tomato
It's a lovely red colour with an bit of an orange tinge to it. I really like it, it gives my lips a fresh look suited for every day and for dressing up - maybe with a bit of lip liner to defines the lips more.


Overall I am impressed with the chubby sticks. They give a nice amount of moisture to my lips which I need as I tend to have dry lips. The colours are great, not too pigmented but still give a nice effect and gives a 'my lips but better' look, except for the Pudgy Peony which is more pigmented. I wouldn't have tried Voluptuous Violet if it wasn't in the box, because it looks really dark and a little scary to me, but it's wonderful and sheer.
